Leopold Zborowski

Modigliani painted this in 1918.  It is a portrait of his friend Leopold Zborowski.  During Modigliani's final living years, Zborowski was his primary art dealer.  They were also friends and Zborowski and his wife often let Modigliani use their home as a workshop.  In comparing this to Modigliani's other portrait paintings, this one seems a little brighter.  It is as though you can almost tell that he and Zborowski were good friends from the complacence shown in his facial expressions.
